Publication Date: February 21, 2023
When you kick over a rock, you never know what’s going to crawl out.
Alex Velesky is about to discover that the hard way. He’s stolen records from the Swiss bank that employs him, thinking that he’ll uncover a criminal conspiracy. But he soon finds that he’s tapped into the mother lode of corruption. Before he knows it, he’s being hunted by everyone from the Russian mafia to the CIA.
Court Gentry and his erstwhile lover, Zoya Zakharova, find themselves on opposites poles when it comes to Velesky. They both want him but for different reasons.
That’s a problem for tomorrow. Today they need to keep him and themselves alive. Right now, it’s not looking good.
Court Gentry works freelance intelligence jobs, which is why he finds himself tasked with destroying luxury yachts owned by Russian criminals in the opening chapter of the 12th installment of The Gray Man series.
The drama only gets deeper as Court finds himself squaring off with the Russian mob. Author Mark Greaney delivers an action-packed thriller with Burner. As someone new to the series, I had no problems claiming a front-row seat thanks to the helpful cast of characters guide.
Banker Alex Velesky receives information that, coupled with confidential transaction data, will expose all the secret financial operations tied to the Kremlin. The catch? Well, let’s just say Alex is no stranger to taking money from criminals.
Caught in a tug-of-war between the Russian mob and the CIA, Velesky is nabbed by Zoya Zakharova for safekeeping. A massive battle breaks out aboard a train, with Zoya and Court coming face to face. Both of them have been hired to watch over Velesky, but they face an uphill battle if they are going to make it out alive.
Burner delivers a timely tale of espionage and the different alphabet agencies trying to deliver justice. Greaney provides an exciting adventure that packs a punch.
Mark Greaney has a degree in International Relations and Political Science. In researching The Gray Man series he traveled to ten countries and trained extensively in the use of firearms, battlefield medicine, and close range combative tactics.
