The Review

Halloween Ice Scream is the sixth book in the Cat Cafe Magical Mystery series by Rosie Reed. As we reconnect with Amber, David, and other beings of magic in magical Royal Windsor, I was fully immersed from the beginning of the story until its end.

There are so many layers to the story, with many murders needing to be solved. Multiple stories are being told, and they are woven together nicely. Once again, Amber, a novice witch, is in the thick of things trying to solve the crimes and whodunnit, much to the chagrin of her detective boyfriend and her cousin’s boyfriend, who is a detective inspector. There are so many twists and turns with suspects, clues, and red herrings. As they are sorted through, there seem to be more questions than answers.

There are vivid descriptions and lots of magic, magical beings, friends, family, pets, and sweets. There are new career opportunities and paths for some, and secrets unveiled, with follow-through and references to previous stories, which gives the book a good flow. There is closure with the murderer being revealed, but not before others are accused. There is a happily ever after in the offing as well.

Halloween Ice Scream is a cozy paranormal mystery that had me trying to figure out whodunnit as the magic swirled around us.Buy Links

About The Author

I love writing, daydreaming, and creating stories. I often write for fun, even when I’m not planning on publishing. But it’s also wonderful to share my stories with you!

I’m a massive Agatha Christie and Terry Pratchett fan, so writing paranormal mystery comes instinctively! I love the understated gentle charm of cozies, and it’s always such a pleasure to spend time in the company of the wonderful sleuths and magical characters that my fellow authors create.

Writing the English Village Witch Cozy series helped to keep me sane during the very strange year of 2020. Evelyn and Alex have done a tremendous job of protecting my mental health, and it’s my pleasure to share this comfort with you.

I do hope you’ll enjoy escaping into the beautiful surroundings of Maiden-Upon-Avon, and having some fun with Evelyn and all the other magical beings who live there! So treat yourself now by taking the phone off the hook of life, and soaking in the bathtub of the English countryside for a while!
