The Description

Publication Date: June 22, 2022

Reckonings hooks the reader from the first page. We meet Roxy, a harried mom and writer, who is juggling a job she hates, three young children, a fourth who is pregnant, and an unhappy husband when a dangerous man from her past reappears. This is a page-turning, family saga of suspense, secrets, retribution, and redemption.
“With its fast pace, well-developed characters and plot twists and turns, Reckonings  is a story you won’t soon forget.” –Gail Olmstead, author of Landscape of a Marriage
“A vibrant, superbly written tale. It’s a fast-paced, tightly knit, family drama with a female protagonist at the heart who, despite painful adolescence memories and present financial and personal hardship, has the courage and tenacity to confront her life’s challenges head on.” –Helen Trepelkov, author of Post Graduate Studies in Motherhood

The Review

A mother must face secrets from the past before improving her family’s future.

Author Karen E. Osborne introduces readers to Roxy in Reckonings. From the first page, it’s clear that Roxy leads a difficult life. Four kids and a husband packed into a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment only scratches the surface.

While she is making plans for a better future through her writing, a face from the past shows up and forces her to deal with a long-buried secret.

Although justice may be too late in Roxy’s situation, she will do anything to ensure it never happens to anyone else. To do that, though, requires her to dredge up memories better left forgotten.

The storyline is packed with flavor in this family drama. The characters are realistic, dealing with challenging circumstances.

Reckonings delivers a fast-paced story about a woman who must navigate conflict on the path to happiness.Buy Links

About The Author

Karen E. Osborne is the award-winning author of the suspense novels Getting It Right, and Reckonings, historical fiction True Grace, and murder mysteries Tangled Lies and Justice for Emerson. As a kid in the Bronx, Karen kept friends enthralled with adventures she pretended to have experienced. Marriage, children, and a wonderful career, first as an academic administrator and then co-owner of The Osborne Group consulting and training firm, sidelined her ambition to be a writer until one day Kara, the protagonist in her first novel, began speaking to Karen. A native New Yorker, Karen lives in Port Saint Lucie, FL with her husband Robert. They have two grown children and three grandsons.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
