Summary

Dying to Go is a fun, cozy mystery with an unlikely backdrop, several interesting characters, and a mystery to solve. I was looking forward to the clues being gathered and to what would happen next.

4-STAR REVIEW: DYING TO GO by Marcy Blesy

The Description

Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery Series: Book 1
Publication Date: November 8, 2023

Thirty-nine-year-old Rosi Laruee—named Rosisophia Doroche after her mother’s beloved Golden Girls—decides that the end of her twenty-year marriage and her dad’s impending knee replacement surgery are all the excuses she needs to visit Tucson Valley Retirement Community. But the drama follows Rosi when she finds the body of local tart and business owner, Salem Mansfield. The information she discovers using her newspaper reporter sleuthing skills coupled with the clues she picks up from lackluster Police Officer Dan Daniel lead to a surprise discovery when the murderer is revealed. Along the way, she meets a cast of characters in her parents’ social circle who leave her questioning her parents’ choices in friends while simultaneously befriending many of the residents, including a handsome landscaper and a brand-new Golden Retriever puppy she names Barley. Rosi’s visit to Tucson Valley proves more than she’d bargained for, but maybe, she realizes, it’s just the kind of change she needs.

Dying to Go (Nothing to Gush About) by Marcy Blesy is the first book in the Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery series, and I can’t wait to return to Tucson and see what Rosi and the others are up to next. There’s a lot of gossip, fun activities, and a murder to solve, along with other crimes.

Rosi plans to spend a few weeks with her parents, helping after her dad’s surgery. She gets more than she bargains for getting to know their friends, accepting a puppy from a neighbor who becomes her sidekick, getting involved with a murder investigation after she finds the body, and seems to uncover clues before anyone else, even the police, one of whom isn’t as they seem.

The story has a good flow, lots of descriptions that made me feel like I was there, and multiple stories wrapped within. There are some chuckles throughout and I liked Rosi’s interactions with Keaton, the landscaper who works at the retirement community. They have a strong connection and attraction as they get to know each other. But she’s returning home to Illinois, or is she? There’s closure in solving the crimes, but the story ends abruptly. I didn’t realize it was the end.

Dying to Go is a fun, cozy mystery with an unlikely backdrop, several interesting characters, and a mystery to solve. I was looking forward to the clues being gathered and to what would happen next.Buy Links
