From the beginning pages of The Life and Death of Rose Doucette, I was hooked. While their divorce is old news, private investigator Dylan Fisher agrees to meet his ex-wife, Rose, who happens to be a homicide detective. She asks for Dylan’s help with a case, leaving him with more questions than answers.
When Rose is murdered, leaving the meeting, the police are eager to pin the blame on Dylan. He teams up with Rose’s new husband, a defense attorney, to solve the case.
What an incredibly twisted storyline! Two men, both of whom have feelings for Rose, must set aside their differences to find answers. The author’s writing style is so smooth that you will find yourself halfway through the book before you realize it.
Dylan’s character, while admittedly flawed, is compelling in his determination for answers. Even digging into Rose’s past, where the clues are, seems to be worth the angst it causes.
