Death in the Ozarks is the first book in author Erik S. Meyers’s Sally Witherspoon Mystery series, and I am excited to see where the series takes the characters in forthcoming books.
Bar owner Sally Witherspoon, the lead protagonist, is a likable, funny, intelligent, sassy, and all-around kick-ass character. When her partner in their bar is found dead, she takes on the role of protector and surrogate daughter of his mother, Momma Arnold, which truly touched my heart.
As with most cozy mysteries, the secondary characters helped move the story along as well as helped Sally discover whodunit. This small mountain town has a true sense of community, which made me yearn to live in the mountains, too.
With a fast-paced plot and a solid mystery, Death in the Ozarks will keep the reader entertained til the end.
Currently in Austria, Erik S. Meyers is an American abroad for years and years who has lived or worked in six countries on three continents, the longest in Germany. He is an award-winning author and communications professional with over twenty-five years of expertise in a variety of corporate roles. Reading and writing are his passions, when he is not hiking one of the amazing trails in Austria or elsewhere.
