The Description

A Camera Club Mystery: Book 1
Publication Date: September 24, 2024

Blue skies and wildflowers signal the start of summer in southern Vermont, and the Stonebridge Keep it Snappy Camera Club lenses are zoomed in on…murder.

It’s been more than a year since the sudden death of her husband, and photographer Bobbie Brooks wants nothing more than to escape her grief. Fleeing her life in the city, she seeks a fresh start in the serenity of the Green Mountains. But Bobbie’s new beginning comes to a halt when she finds a member of her camera club dead beneath the village’s idyllic covered bridge. Tragic accident or something sinister? With a keen photographer’s eye, Bobbie suspects murder.

As if transitioning to small-town life wasn’t challenging enough, Bobbie’s missing scarf is found at the murder scene, making her the primary focus. Scorned by local gossips, she enlists the help of her camera club and shifts her lens from photographer to amateur sleuth. Using photos found on the victim’s camera, they waste no time setting out to catch the killer—and discover no shortage of suspects. Secrets, lies, and blackmail…Danger abounds as they close in on the killer.

Her camera holds the answers… But can she develop the clues in time to stop the killer?

Taste of Stonebridge – Kara Lacey The Review

Kara Lacey’s first book in the Camera Club Mystery series, Caught on Camera, is set in a small town in Vermont, and I think it’s safe to say that we will be seeing more of the lead character, Ms. Bobbie Brooks.

Bobbie is smart, capable, and no-nonsense. She is also flawed and makes mistakes, which makes her a well-rounded character. I enjoyed her character development and growth throughout the book, which is necessary as a realistic element to any good book.

Mystery books set in a small town are my speed. I love the fact that everyone knows everyone else. There is a feeling of safety, community, and togetherness. Throw in some suspense, mystery, and murder, and I am ready to settle in to read for a few hours.

I have never been to Vermont, but I hear it is a beautiful state. Ms. Lacey used wonderful descriptive language to describe her surroundings so that the reader could easily visualize the setting and landscapes.

The story had an excellent flow and pace and held my interest throughout. I liked how the author showed how close Bobbie was to her friends and family throughout the book. I also enjoyed how the secondary characters helped move the story to the end.

With beautiful surroundings, a quaint town, and a solid mystery, Caught on Camera was an excellent start to this new cozy mystery series.Buy Links

I’ve reviewed before for the now closed Romancing the Book. I love reading whether it’s an ebook or a good old-fashioned book book. The smell of a book is such a nice smell. I work with handicapped adults in my real life and I live in New York State.
