THE MAGGIE O’SHEA SUSPENSE SERIES

TWO STRONG WOMEN, GENERATIONS APART, CONNECTED BY MUSIC…

In 1943 war-torn France, a young woman on the Night Train to Paris has a chance meeting with two very different men who will change her life, setting in motion a Dual Timeline story that will resonate like ripples on water for generations to come.

Many years later, classical pianist Maggie O’Shea is drawn to Brittany by a long-lost letter from her French grandmother and the stirring music of Chopin, whispering like echoes across the years. But as Maggie discovers the secrets of her past, her life spirals out of control, threatening her upcoming wedding and those she loves.

Set against the backdrop of World War II France, Maggie learns her grandmother’s story, chord by chord, through Chopin’s emotional Preludes. And, in one shocking moment, Maggie’s love story will take a heart-breaking turn that will change her life and echo into her future.

Past and present converge in this haunting tale of loss and sacrifice, friendship and family, courage and survival – and the transcendent power of hope, music and love.

The Review

Through a series of clues, a woman discovers the French grandmother she never knew.

Author Helaine Mario pens the fourth installment in the Maggie O’Shea Mysteries series in Echoes on the Wind. While reading previous books in the series isn’t a prerequisite, it would likely help provide valuable context.

That context would come in handy regarding the specifics of why a horrible man named Dane is determined to destroy Maggie and everyone she loves, including her beau, Michael Beckett. While the present is filled with suspense, a second storyline unfolds, featuring Maggie’s grandmother, Clair.

Clair’s story unfolds in World War II as she becomes a member of the Resistance in France. She and Maggie share many characteristics, including a love for art and music. Her adventures alone would have made an excellent book.

Full of emotion, there’s almost too much going on. However, Maggie manages to juggle it all and unlock her grandmother’s piano concerto.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.

  1. Good morning, Amy. I just read your review of my book, Echoes on the Wind, and I am so grateful for your thoughts on my characters and story. Dual timelines are a challenge, but I think music is the perfect connection between past and present. This story comes from my heart. And if your followers are interested in my pianist Maggie’s story from the beginning, book #1 is The Lost Concerto. With gratitude, Helaine Mario
