Tide Harbor Suspense: Book 1
Publication Date: November 16, 2023
A wily bomber… A determined activist… A man with a secret…
Uncompromising eco-activist Summer Avery abandons the bustle of New York City and scurries to the tiny coastal village of Tide Harbor, determined to accomplish what a crazy bomber has not—stop the destructive Minas Basin tidal energy project in its tracks and earn the EcoGreen directorship.
Desperate for a safe place to raise his autistic daughter, recently divorced marine biologist Gil Moses. takes a job with the tidal energy company, ostensibly to study lobsters, but actually to capture the bomber. The last thing Gil needs is to be the focus of a rip-roaring protest led by Miss Fancy Boots, the most attractive and enigmatic woman he has ever met.
But there’s a killer on the loose, and Summer must choose—sacrifice her career or risk her life to save her Captain Nemo and the little girl she has come to love.
Summer Avery wants to make her mark as an environmental activist, so she turns her attention to a tidal energy project in Tide Harbor.
Concealed by the Tide serves up a fast-paced, suspenseful storyline courtesy of author Zara West. It’s not the traditional activist vs. mega-corporation story, though. A bomber has already made one attempt with the clock ticking down before the next one.
Summer’s character is full of determination, although recurring encounters with Gil, a handsome divorced marine biologist, does tend to shift her focus. There’s an interesting subplot that features Gil’s 4-year-old autistic daughter and the housekeeper who practically hired herself.
The enemies-to-lovers theme works well with the romantic suspense, especially as Summer hones in on a secret that Gil has been hiding. Summer wanted to get attention, but not from a killer.
Concealed by the Tide introduces a new series full of romance, suspense, and mystery, all working perfectly together to deliver an entertaining story.
Award-winning author Zara West loves all things mysterious, adventurous, and heart-stopping as long as they lead to true love. Swept off her feet by her own Indiana Jones, Zara has followed sheep and goats up and down mountainsides in Greece, Crete, and Italy, been stranded on the banks of the Rhine with no money and one chocolate bar, and while she has never been kidnapped, she has been abandoned on an island in the middle of the wilderness for longer than she wants to remember. Now she writes books for the adventurer in us all.
