Windsor witch Amber Eldritch is hoping for a sweet day out, but when a Marilyn Monroe impersonator is killed at the grand opening of the town’s new chocolate factory, she finds herself in a sticky situation. Especially when she realises this was no accident!
But solving the murder isn’t Amber’s only problem this autumn equinox. After his brave sacrifice to save her cousin’s life last month, Windsor’s most dashing vampire policeman, Sergeant David Van Danté, needs to regain his powers. Restoring him won’t be easy, but apparently the answer lies with a magical talking chocolate teapot – which isn’t as useless as it sounds!
With a cocoa golem acting suspiciously, a rock band full of secrets, and a chocolate influencer with a bitter streak, Amber’s got plenty of suspects to sift through. Luckily, her talking cat is on hand as always to lend a paw.
Combining witty banter, unexpected twists, and a dash of romance to melt your heart, The Chocolate Teapot is a selection box of magic and mystery!
The Chocolate Teapot by Rosie Reed is the fifth book in the Cat Cafe Magical Mystery series. There’s a lot of magic, along with Beings of Magic, which take many forms, but vampires, witches, and even angels take center stage. There are also spells and depleting magic, along with some romance.
Amber, a witch from a family of witches, dates a vampire detective, and she’s always very helpful in assisting him to solve a crime or two—whether he wants her to or not. Several storylines are swirling, and several crimes are committed, including a murder or two. This cozy paranormal mystery has twists and turns with vivid descriptions, clues, and suspects.
It was nice to pick up where we left off with some of the storylines from previous books and get some closure. There are a lot of secondary characters who keep the story moving, as well as pets who have their own magic. My interest was maintained through the book. The story flows well but ends abruptly, even with the murderer unveiled.
Set in England, The Chocolate Teapot has loads of magic, murder, and chocolate. Sit back with a cup of tea and a chocolate dessert or two to sift through the clues to see whodunnit!
I love writing, daydreaming, and creating stories. I often write for fun, even when I’m not planning on publishing. But it’s also wonderful to share my stories with you!
I’m a massive Agatha Christie and Terry Pratchett fan, so writing paranormal mystery comes instinctively! I love the understated gentle charm of cozies, and it’s always such a pleasure to spend time in the company of the wonderful sleuths and magical characters that my fellow authors create.
Writing the English Village Witch Cozy series helped to keep me sane during the very strange year of 2020. Evelyn and Alex have done a tremendous job of protecting my mental health, and it’s my pleasure to share this comfort with you.
I do hope you’ll enjoy escaping into the beautiful surroundings of Maiden-Upon-Avon, and having some fun with Evelyn and all the other magical beings who live there! So treat yourself now by taking the phone off the hook of life, and soaking in the bathtub of the English countryside for a while!
