5-STAR REVIEW: HOW TO KILL MEN AND GET AWAY WITH IT by Katy Brent

The Description

Publication Date: October 12, 2022

Meet Kitty Collins.
FRIEND. LOVER. KILLER.

He was following me. That guy from the nightclub who wouldn’t leave me alone.

I hadn’t intended to kill him of course. But I wasn’t displeased when I did and, despite the mess I made, I appeared to get away with it.

That’s where my addiction started…

I’ve got a taste for revenge and quite frankly, I’m killing it.

A deliciously dark, hilariously twisted story about friendship, love, and murder. Fans of My Sister the Serial KillerHow to Kill Your Family and Killing Eve will love this wickedly clever novel!

The Review

Kitty Collins, Instagram star and wisecracking woman who is often the life of the party in London has developed a rather dangerous hobby.

Author Katy Brent details the new hobby in How to Kill Men and Get Away With It. Although Kitty didn’t start out with the intention of murdering anyone, accidents happen that leave her with an increasing dead body count. Meanwhile, a mysterious stalker is threatening to expose her secret.

Kitty is on a path to mete out renegade justice to men who fail to respect women. What may have started out as an accident soon turns into pre-planned retribution.

Although Kitty wouldn’t be considered “good” because she is essentially a murderer, her character elicits sympathy and even somewhat justifies her actions. The twisted conclusion delivers the big reveal of her stalker, with long-reaching complications.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
