The Description

Lovelight Series: Book 2
Paperback Publication Date: July 4, 2023

A grumpy farmer and a no-nonsense social media influencer have another chance at love in this charming romantic comedy.

Evelyn St. James isn’t the kind of woman you forget. Beckett Porter certainly hasn’t. One incredible weekend in Maine, and he’s officially a man distracted. He’s not unfamiliar with hot and heavy flings, but Evie wove some sort of magic over him during their tumble in the sheets. He can’t stop thinking about her laugh. Her hand pressed flat against his chest. Her smiling mouth at his neck.

So when she suddenly appears on his farm as part of a social media contest, he is…confused. He had no idea that the sweet and sexy woman he met at a bar is actually a global phenomenon. When Evie disappears again, Beckett resolves to finally move on.

But Evie, who has been feeling disconnected from her work and increasingly dissatisfied with life online, is trying to find her way back to something real. She returns to the last place she was happy: Lovelight Farms and the tiny town of Inglewild. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the hot farmer she spent two incredible nights with.

The Review

Who doesn’t need a “little bit of happy?” Evelyn St. James is looking for hers in B.K. Borison’s In the Weedsand she thinks it might just be found in the charming little town of Idlewild and with an equally charming farmer who lives there.

Close on the endearing heels of Lovelight Farms, this winsome story is about the realization of what true happiness means—to you—and what you’re willing to do, change, adapt, or even where you’ll move to enjoy and secure that elusive state called happiness or as it’s known in Idlewild, a “little bit of happy.”

Resident farmer, Beckett Porter, is hopelessly head-over-heels crazy about media influencer Evelyn St. James who visited Lovelight Farms on an assignment last December.

He’s not sure how she feels about him because both times they’ve been together. Evie has left without a goodbye or even a backward glance. Beckett realizes he has to get hold of himself. He’s a partner in Lovelight Farms, and his business partners are counting on him.

Evie St. James is feeling tired and restless. A job she once took total pleasure in doing has become routine, and the same burning desire for the next picture, the next posting, the next appearance has dimmed.

She needs something, but…what?

As she reflects back on where she last felt “happy,” she realizes it was in Idlewild at Lovelight Farms and in the company of one incredibly captivating yet very quiet farmer.

Evie journeys back to Idlewild and discovers its slower pace, a sense of belonging, the town’s residents, and yes—even the town’s phone tree, all fill a need she’s been craving to fill. But what about the influencer job she loved? Will she be able to find something to fill that void, and most importantly, what about Beckett?

Does he find his “little bit of happy” in Evie, or will his fear of her leaving—yet again—dim their prospects of true happiness together.

This intense story, with its powerful sexual tension between two strong and complex characters, keep the pages turning. B.K. Borison does a masterful job of intertwining the original novel, Lovelight Farms, with its irrepressible follow-up, In the WeedsWhile the witty banter and clever descriptions found in the first novel are sadly lacking in In the Weeds, it is still delightful.

In the Weeds delivers a potent dose of relationship complexity encapsulated in two delightfully fragmented characters whose tenacity and temerity are sprinkled with attraction, love, and, yes…”a little bit of happy.” Buy Links
