About The Book

Global Security Unlimited: Book 3
Publication Date: August 25, 2023

What happens when a hunky French-Canadian security executive falls for a feisty Chicago lawyer?

Micki Press and JL Martin both have complicated lives, but when they come together, the sparks are undeniable. Micki is trying to make it to the top of one of the most conservative corporate law firms in Chicago. JL is the CEO of WatchDog Inc., a successful security company, and is struggling with his own family complications. When Micki’s former lover stalks her, JL steps in to protect her, and the two soon realize their feelings go beyond friendship. But with their complicated pasts and the struggles of the corporate world, are they ready to take the next step, or will the twists and turns have them singing the Chicago blues?

If you enjoy a story of complicated love and corporate ambition, you’ll love At the Ready. If you enjoy fast-paced action, romance, and a dash of karaoke, you’ll fall for At the Ready.

The Review

Micki Press is laser-focused on landing a partner spot as her next career move, so she doesn’t have time to develop a relationship.

However, a former ex-boyfriend turned stalker complicates her efforts. JL Martin comes to her rescue, providing not only top-notch security services but solid karaoke skills as well.

Author Sharon Michalove delivers the third installment of the Global Security Unlimited series with At The Ready. While it can be read as a standalone, the characters have interesting backstories that overlap.

Both Micki and JL have plenty of reasons why they shouldn’t be together. Between Micki’s work schedule and JL’s family complications, it’s incredibly messy.

While the stalker concept is scary, the absurdity of his behavior generates some laughter. The two main characters elicit plenty of laughs, whether it’s from a broken heel or spicy curse phrases.

At The Ready delivers a spicy, fast-paced story packed with romantic suspense.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
