When a famous pro-tennis player stays at the resort to rehab after surgery, Derin points out her shortcomings no one else will.

Pro-tennis player Madison Moore heads to a remote sports complex on Vargas Guest Ranch & Resort to finish rehabbing after shoulder surgery. As she fears the death of her pro career, the bossy cowboy manager gets under her skin.

​Will Derin soften his rough edges to win over the beautiful tennis player? Will Madison listen to the hard truth about her future while opening her heart to love?

I read the first two books in the Vargas Ranch series by Karen Baney back-to-back and was interested to see how the third brother in the family would find his happily ever after in Falling for a Bossy Cowboy. Once again, I was pleasantly surprised by this story.

Falling for a Bossy Cowboy features Derin and Madi. Madi is a world-famous tennis player who is rehabbing after surgery at the new sports complex at the Vargas Ranch. Derin oversees this new branch of his family’s ranch and has quite the reputation around the resort of being a lady’s man—a reputation he wants to change. There are sparks when they meet, and thus, their romance begins.

I liked both characters. Madi is dealing with a possible career-ending injury and isn’t looking for love. But Derin is pretty irresistible to her, especially his faith. I did find Madi to be a bit judgmental, but honestly, I find most people are, and she’s only human. It made her feel more realistic and even more likable. I warmed up to Derin. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him in the beginning, but I just wasn’t sure of him as the love interest. But there was good character growth for both of them, and I was rooting for their happily ever after.

The plot was good, if a bit simple. I could have used a more complex or drawn-out conflict near the end. It seemed too quickly resolved for my tastes. But I still like Ms. Baney’s storytelling and enjoyed the read.

Falling for a Bossy Cowboy is a quick, inspirational read. It is a good continuation of the Vargas Ranch series.
