5-STAR REVIEW: THE LITTLE ISLAND FLOWER STALL by Tilly Tennant

The Description

Publication Date: January 29, 2025

Escape to a colourful little flower stall on the island of Jersey with its sweeping golden beaches. A place where, this summer, Bella will discover a heartbreaking family secret… that could help her find a new beginning.

When Bella’s heart is broken by her cheating husband, she packs a bag and escapes to the little island of Jersey, to help her beloved great-aunt Celestine run her seaside flower stall.

With the sun on her cheeks, watching white-haired Celestine in her elegant patterned trouser suit beam at customers and arrange flowers in vases, Bella realises that life is too short to feel sad. And when handsome, brooding Rory arrives at the rose-covered flower stall, and their eyes meet, she feels a sudden spark…

Inspired by Celestine’s lust for life, Bella agrees to get to know Rory better. As the two of them walk together under vast blue skies, Rory tells her of the family secret that has brought him to the island.

Bella wonders if Celestine might be able to help Rory with his quest, but Celestine warns her to be careful. Bella knows she should listen to her wise aunt, but she can’t fight her feelings. Yet when she tries to track Rory down days later, she is shocked to discover the secrets he has been keeping.

Is her hope of an island romance with a mysterious, handsome man simply too good to be true? Or can this beautiful place still bring her the bright new beginning that she so desperately needs?

A beautiful romantic escapist read about healing from the hurts of the past and learning to trust the present again. Fans of Debbie Macomber and Jessica Redland will be swept away by The Little Island Flower Stall.

The Review

A broken heart may have sent Bella to Jersey, where she helps her great aunt recover from an injury, but an island getaway is a perfect spot for new beginnings.

Author Tilly Tennant delivers a charming romantic comedy packed with quirky twists in The Little Island Flower Stall. Bella learns how to tend her great aunt’s flower stall, which generates plenty of traffic.

When Bella encounters Rory, a stranger to the island seeking answers to a family secret, there is a definite spark of attraction. However, in a close-knit island community, secrets typically have caretakers ensuring they stay buried.

The challenge for Bella’s character is to embrace the example set by her almost 100-year-old relative and live in the present. It’s a tough lesson for Bella but one that will have readers clamoring for more.

About The AuthorFrom a young age, Tilly Tennant was convinced that she was destined for the stage.  Once she realised she wasn’t actually very good at anything that would put her on the stage, she started to write stories instead. There were lots of terrible ones, like The Pet Rescue Gang (aged eight), which definitely should not see the light of day ever again. Thankfully, her debut novel, Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn was not one of those, and since it hit the Amazon best seller lists she hasn’t looked back. Born in Dorset, she currently lives in Staffordshire with her husband, two daughters, three guitars, four ukuleles, two violins and a kazoo.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
