Theodosia and Drayton are at it again in Laura Childs’ High Tea and Misdemeanors. Tea and yummy food are plentiful, along with murder, mystery, and people who are not what they appear to be.
Theodosia is the main protagonist in this book. She’s no-nonsense and is willing to get involved in a case to help people in need find the “bad guy.” She’s not afraid of people disliking her when asking the hard questions.
Theodosia has a dog named “Earl Grey,” which I think is clever and very cute. Having a tea shop sounds so nice to visit, not so much to have to run. Theo loves her tea shop, and it comes across the page.
Supporting characters, Drayton, who she works with, is great to bounce ideas off of and is one of her support systems. As is her boyfriend, Riley, a police officer, who is there to help solve the case.
High Tea and Misdemeanors is excellently written, has a strong plotline, and an intriguing mystery. I highly recommend this book to cozy mystery lovers.

In a rehabbed Spur station, Suzanne, Toni, and Petra, three semi-desperate, forty-plus women have launched the Cackleberry Club. Eggs are the morning specialty here and this cozy cafe even offers a book nook and yarn shop. Business is good but murder could lead to the cafe’s undoing! This series offers recipes, knitting, cake decorating, and a dash of spirituality.
