One of the draws of the series is the ability to skip around, especially if you are new to the author. As with other installments I have read, the author creates a rich historical atmosphere. This time, it was England in the early 19th century. Amid both economic and political unrest, the brutal murder of a nobleman indicates a killer with a message.
Enter Sebastian St. Cyr, the man who solves murders, even in the face of opposition. While this is a historical mystery, the author has taken great care to build a compelling cast of recurring characters, especially the main character’s family.
