In the heart of the British establishment…

Lord Hartley, the latest in a line of peers going back over two hundred years, lies dying. But his will triggers an inheritance with explosive consequences.

Two deaths. Continents apart. No obvious connection.

So why are they both at the centre of a master criminal’s plot for revenge?

And can Scotland Yard’s William Warwick uncover the truth before it’s too late…

The Review

For three years, Miles Faulkner has simmered behind bars. Now, with his sentence served, he’s ready to activate plans for revenge. However, Chief Superintendent William Warwick knows to expect the unexpected where Miles is concerned.

Author Jeffrey Archer delivers the seventh installment in the William Warwick Novels with An Eye for an Eye. Packed with intriguing subplots that he masterfully weaves together, readers will find this quite an enjoyable adventure. One of the strengths of the series is the ongoing character development. Even if this is your first introduction to Warwick and Ross, you will have a solid reading experience.

With his signature flair, the author builds the main plot around an effort by the British to negotiate a major arms deal with Saudi Arabia. Leading the delegation is Simon Hartley, who has a distinguished pedigree. However, the negotiations take an unexpected turn that threatens Simon’s life. The glimpse inside the world of negotiation, particularly on foreign soil, is fraught with corruption, bribery, and even murder.

How Faulkner and the Hartley family intertwine is another example of how the author uses art and history as themes in his work. The Fair Copy of the Declaration of Independence, containing two extra clauses by Thomas Jefferson, provides a unique piece of history.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
