The Description

Time’s Lost Treasures Series: Book 2
Publication Date: June 3, 2025

Buried underneath are truths bent on keeping them apart. . . .

In 1889 Victorian England, Eva Inman is haunted by guilt over her parents’ deaths while struggling to care for her blind sister and manage her family’s crumbling estate. With the tax deadline looming, Eva’s situation looks dire until an ancient silver ring is unearthed on the property. Despite superstitions warning against disturbing the supposedly cursed acres, Eva’s need for funds ignites her curiosity about the potential of finding more buried relics.

Cambridge professor Bram Webb must prove a legendary Christian Roman settlement exists, or he’ll risk exposing his uncle’s deteriorating memory and they’ll both lose their positions. Then Eva steps into his office with the prospect of an archaeological dig that might lead to the very evidence Bram requires–provided he and Eva can set aside painful memories of a time they would rather forget. As the dig forces the two to confront their pasts, the work becomes fraught with challenges that threaten Eva’s and Bram’s hopes, as well as the growing attraction between them.

The Review

Eva Inman hopes a ring found on her estate will resolve her financial woes, but she didn’t expect to encounter a former friend in the process.

Of Silver and Secrets marks the second installment in the Time’s Lost Treasures series by Michelle Griep. It can easily be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Set in 1889 amid the English countryside, it’s a story featuring a strong female character who is responsible for caring for her blind younger sister. With the death of their father, they are left with a crumbling estate and little money to support it.

It’s Eva’s decision to plow the reputed “cursed” plot of land that leads to the discovery at the center of the story. A trip to find an expert on Roman history leads her to Bram Webb, the last person she wants to see.

Bram, meanwhile, has problems of his own. His uncle must find proof of the fabled settlement of Roman intellectual and spiritual refuge or face dismissal from his college post.

As the two former friends are reunited, the sparks begin to fly. With notes of romance, faith, and suspense, the plot includes plenty of twists courtesy of those who want to keep the discoveries for themselves.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
