“Expertly plotted and exquisitely twisted… Julie Clark masterfully weaves together a daughter’s long-held suspicions and her father’s deadly secrets with the tragic events from the past. The Ghostwriter kept me turning pages in this suspenseful search for the truth.” — Ashley Elston, #1 New York Times bestselling author of First Lie Wins

From the instant New York Times bestselling author of The Last Flight and The Lies I Tell comes a dazzling new thriller.

June, 1975.

The Taylor family shatters in a single night when two teenage siblings are found dead in their own home. The only surviving sibling, Vincent, never shakes the whispers and accusations that he was the one who killed them. Decades later, the legend only grows as his career as a horror writer skyrockets.

Ghostwriter Olivia Dumont has spent her entire professional life hiding the fact that she is the only child of Vincent Taylor. Now on the brink of financial ruin, she’s offered a job to ghostwrite her father’s last book. What she doesn’t know, though, is that this project is another one of his lies. Because it’s not another horror novel he wants her to write.

After fifty years of silence, Vincent Taylor is finally ready to talk about what really happened that night in 1975.

The Review

Long-buried childhood questions surface when a man decides to break his 50-year-silence regarding the murder of his siblings.

However, his revelations must unfold through the hands of his estranged daughter, Olivia. Author Julie Clark delivers an intricate story of family relationships in The Ghostwriter.

An esteemed author, Vincent Taylor, essentially checked out in parenting his daughter, Olivia. Deserted by her mother, all Olivia wants is to get far away, which she accomplished by moving overseas and later building a career as a ghostwriter.

Facing financial challenges, she reluctantly accepts the offer to collaborate with her father. However, returning to her hometown opens plenty of old wounds, especially when she discovers her father is an unreliable narrator.

The story unfolds as Olivia sifts through her father’s memories, alternating with perspectives from the past. Did Vincent get away with murdering his siblings? What exactly happened that fateful night?

Secrets can cripple relationships, even when the key to unlocking them rests in the mind of a man in the throes of dementia.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
