4-STAR REVIEW: THE WOMAN HE MARRIED By Willow Rose

The Description

Publication Date: September 22, 2025

Nobody trusts her. How far will they go to get rid of her?

The mother-in-law: Elizabeth has never been good enough for my perfect son Richard. I see through her pearly-white smiles and swanky hospital fundraisers to the real reason she married him. When I hear Richard is missing, I know she’s done something terrible. I will find my boy, and force her out of the family…

The wife: Richard has always played away, so I just shrug my shoulders as I’m told he’s missing. But Jane’s accusations are like a dagger to my heart. I love my husband, despite everything we’ve been through. But she lost her grip on her son the day we got married. Has she set me up to get rid of me for good?

The maid: When Jane asks me to watch Elizabeth, she doesn’t need to explain why. I know what it’s like to come from nothing just like Elizabeth did. What people will do to hide their past. And I see the way she looks around at the house she now owns as if a weight has been lifted off her shoulders. She can’t be trusted, but then neither can I…

An unputdownable thriller from multi-million-copy bestseller Willow Rose. Fans of Lisa Jewell, Freida McFadden and Jeneva Rose will be glued to the pages as they race to the final twist.

The Review

Formidable Jane Wilson will do anything to protect her family name and her adult son, Richard, even if it means inserting a spy within his household.

Author Willow Rose serves up a twisty psychological tale in The Woman He Married. At the center of the story are Jane, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and cleaning lady Marie.

Readers familiar with this author will appreciate her signature twists. With Richard suddenly missing, a number of theories evolve as the story unfolds via three perspectives. By the time the last page is turned, the outcome will be completely unexpected.

Of the three primary characters, Marie stands out for her ability to blend into any scenario while watching and hearing everything. Elizabeth offers a sense of mystery. Is she a victim or perpetrator? And Jane, while her protective mother instincts are understandable, there’s something a bit off.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
