From the moment I first see Doctor Drew Devlin, I want him to be mine. Drew is the perfect man – he’s charming, handsome and wealthy. And I need the security that comes from being with someone like him. I’m at my lowest point and I have nothing to lose; this is my chance to escape my troubled past. So I’m going to stop at nothing to ensure that Drew marries me…

Whatever it takes, I will become the doctor’s wife.

Except when I get closer to Drew, I realise the doctor isn’t who he says he is. He’s hiding a dangerous secret.

But so am I…

From the number one bestselling author of The Doctor’s Wife, this is a totally gripping and page-turning psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the final jaw-dropping twist. Perfect for fans of John Marrs, T.M Logan and Freida McFadden.

The Review

Stuck in a job she hates while navigating a broken heart, Fern receives life-altering advice from a stranger.

Author Daniel Hurst takes readers on a roller coaster ride of psychological thrills with The Doctor. From the shocking prologue featuring Fern’s incarceration to the lies surrounding Dr. Drew Devlin, the main characters are separated only by their level of deception.

The author uses past and present shifts, in addition to alternating perspectives, to build the origin story of this seemingly perfect couple. Underneath is a layer of deceit and murder.

While this story builds the foundation for the next installment in the series, it provides insight into the choices made by each individual and the ensuing consequences.

Unleashing the secrets generates a twisted path of clues that will make readers want to continue reading.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
