Summary

Cataloged Under Deception is another hit, and I look forward to reading more about Silver Springs, the denizens who live there, and all the mysteries they solve.

5-STAR REVIEW: CATALOGED UNDER DECEPTION by Jodie Morgan

The Description

Silver Springs Mysteries: Book 0.3
Publication Date: September 15, 2025

Some treasures are too precious—and too perilous—to keep.

Evelyn Chan has been the backbone of the Silver Springs Public Library’s book sales for four decades: a pillar of honesty and community service. But when she discovers a rare poetry collection worth hundreds in a donation box…everything changes.

It should be worth celebrating, but the book isn’t just valuable…it’s personal. Inscribed ‘To my darling Martha’, it connects to her dear friend Martha Henderson’s long-ago confession about a forbidden romance.

With the library desperately needing funds, Evelyn faces an impossible choice. Keep the secret safe? Or let the book go to auction?

Evelyn needs to think, so she slips the volume into her bag. But as mysterious text messages, flustered conversations, and half-remembered stories pile up…has she stumbled onto Martha’s deepest secret? And should she…keep it hidden?

Sometimes the most precious discoveries aren’t the ones we’re looking for—and sometimes the most poignant secrets are the ones we stumble upon.

The Review

With a poetry collection found connecting a dear friend to a forbidden romance, Evelyn Chan is tasked with keeping the secret safe or letting the book go to auction to fetch, which is sure to yield hundreds of much-needed funds for the library, in Author Jodie Morgan’s Silver Springs Mysteries Cataloged Under Deception.

I enjoy being able to “visit” and check in on Evelyn Chan and find out what she’s been up to. I like the feeling of safety and comfort the plot conveys, as well as the scenes the book depicts. I understand it’s a cozy mystery, and there is a level of danger, but I still feel that way.

Having read all of the books in this series, I know what to expect when I pick up one of Ms. Morgan’s books: solid writing, strong characters, a well-plotted mystery, and a community I want to live in. This edition did not disappoint.

While these books are very short stories, this one, coming in at only 31 pages, Ms. Morgan still manages to give us a beginning, middle, and end, with a very fleshed-out storyline to satisfy the most finicky reader.

Cataloged Under Deception is another hit, and I look forward to reading more about Silver Springs, the denizens who live there, and all the mysteries they solve.

I’ve reviewed before for the now closed Romancing the Book. I love reading whether it’s an ebook or a good old-fashioned book book. The smell of a book is such a nice smell. I work with handicapped adults in my real life and I live in New York State.
