About The Book

A Stolen at Birth Novel
Publication Date: March 23, 2026

“One mother’s nightmare. One mother’s secret.”

In the maternity ward of Mercy Hospital, two women’s lives collide in an act that will haunt them both for years to come. For Melissa Grout, a fifteen-minute shower becomes an eternal nightmare when she emerges to find her newborn daughter’s bassinet empty. As police search futilely and her world crumbles under the weight of loss, she refuses to give up hope that somewhere, somehow, her baby is alive.

A few hundred miles away, Cheryl Winslow cradles the stolen infant, knowing each tender moment could be her last. Consumed by grief over her own baby’s death, she makes a desperate choice that will require a lifetime of lies to protect. As little Piper grows, so do the walls Cheryl builds to keep her safe—and her secret hidden.

For sixteen years, these mothers dance an unconscious duet of loss and love. While Melissa channels her grief into a relentless search, sacrificing everything to find her stolen child, Cheryl creates an elaborate façade of normalcy, knowing that one wrong move, one careless word, could bring her whole world crashing down.

Two mothers. One daughter. Sixteen years of lies.

The Review

For 16 years, Cheryl Winslow has watched her beloved daughter, Piper, and tries to block any feelings of regret.

In the second installment of the Stolen at Birth series, author Angie Stanton tells the story of two mothers, one daughter, and the decision that changed their lives.

Daughter of Mine delivers the story from the perspectives of Cheryl and Melissa. Both are mothers, but one commits a crime that leads to devastation and heartbreak.

It’s more than just a story of a stolen baby. It morphs into a story of continued deception where telling the truth leads to horrifying consequences. For the family left searching, it creates a festering hole that threatens to destroy everyone involved.

Is there any way to justify taking someone else’s child? Cheryl’s story is full of emotion and heartbreak, but her pain doesn’t negate Melissa’s loss.

Daughter of Mine highlights the fragility of the mother/daughter bond when it is built on lies.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
