The Description

Publication Date: May 26, 2026

You fell for him. You shouldn’t have…

I walk up the steps into the marble hall. I’m in a beautiful dress, a fake smile fixed on my face. The ceremony will start soon. I’m pretending everything is fine.

I think back to how it started. The handsome stranger I met one night, charming and vulnerable, his brown eyes fixed on me like they saw right through me.

I know now that our meeting was no coincidence. But I could never have dreamed how far he would go, and how powerless I would be to stop him.

So I will get through today. The vows, the photos, the cake.

And then I will do what I must to protect my family…

A completely unputdownable psychological thriller about family, revenge, and how far people will go to protect the ones they love. From the bestselling author of The Dinner Guest, The New Boyfriend is perfect for fans of T.M. Logan, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell.

The Review

A seemingly random encounter with a desperate stranger leads to unintended consequences for Serena and her adult son, Art.

Author B.P. Walter weaves a story rife with psychological tension in The New Boyfriend. Both Serena and Art have secrets they are keeping from each other, but they maintain a close relationship for the most part.

Their relationship gets put to the test by Paul, a stranger Serena helps. Initially, his emotionally fragile state of mind makes him seem relatively harmless. He, too, has secrets he is hiding.

Serena even fancies the idea that Paul, although younger, might be a potential love interest. The author adds a unique plot twist that changes the story’s trajectory, bringing with it a malevolent force.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
