Krista runs a lakeside café in a small town in the fourth book in Harper Graham’s Maple Falls series, The Hot Honey Hideaway.
Krista and Joe tell their story in alternating chapters. Joe’s a travel journalist, and she runs the business front and center in the story and helps her grandparents at their campground. Krista’s friends dare the two to swap lives for a week. They’ll document their adventures for his work and articles for the town, each from their own perspective. It’s called the Summer Swap, and they have two days to get each other up to speed, then five days to swap lives and raise money for her grandparents.
With a lot for both of them to learn, they’re also having a lot of fun doing so. The two characters have a great deal of chemistry and an attraction they’re both trying to fight, but it’s not going well. Sweet, romantic moments are woven in along with steamy ones. There is a side story involving Krista’s great-grandmother’s secret love, which was delightful.
The characters have depth, and you can feel how tight their friend group is. The epilogue provides a happily-ever-after and some unexpected closure, but I wish it had gone on a little longer. I can’t wait to return to Maple Falls and find out some of the others’ backstories by reading the books I missed.
The Hot Honey Hideaway is a romance with friends and family set in a small town that I would love to visit.

Harper Graham lives with her mischievous spaniel in a cozy small town in Connecticut. Her quirky neighbours may or may not have inspired the residents of her Maple Falls series. When she’s not hiking with her daughter, baking her grandmother’s recipes or reading in her favourite coffee shop, Harper can be found writing the sweet and spicy romance stories of her own dreams.
