The Description

Minnesota Legacy: Book 2
Publication Date: July 7, 2026

Will their undeniable bond overcome the disasters surrounding them?

Evelyn Turner is determined to work at her physician father’s side as he opens a hospital for Minneapolis’s poor. But when nursing makes her physically ill, she faces an impossible choice between the promises she’s made and her own limitations.

Maxwell Garrison is helping manage his father’s investments through the financial crisis of 1893, and he’s especially interested in their sawmill businesses. At a Turner family fund raiser, he is horrified when he overhears his father and other mill owners plotting to commit arson and insurance fraud. When Evie and Max meet at the same fund raiser, a connection sparks between them. As their interests in each other grow, they confide their secrets and agree to guard each other’s trust.

Then a suspicious and devastating fire sets Minneapolis ablaze, and Max and Evie fear the worst. Even amid the ashes of deception, can they build a life together?

Heartfelt romance, steady faith, and the power of redemption collide in acclaimed author Tracie Peterson’s historical novel set in 1893 Minnesota for readers of Janette Oke, Lauraine Snelling, and inspirational Christian fiction.

The Review

A young woman wrestling with family obligations finds her true calling by relying on faith.

Author Tracie Peterson uses Minneapolis in 1893 as the setting for A Life So True. This time period reflects a significant economic downturn, with struggling banks that then impact industry.

For the Turner family, though, it is business as usual for their fundraising campaign to help the needy. Grounded by their strong faith, the members display a keen willingness to help others.

For Evie Turner, that desire led her to complete training as a nurse so she could work alongside her father. As the story begins, Evie is conflicted about her future vocation and doesn’t know how to tell her parents.

To build the story, the author brings Max Garrison into Evie’s orbit. He’s searching for something he can’t identify until one conversation with Evie about faith in God opens his eyes to new possibilities.

When a potentially suspicious fire spreads, Max is certain his father and other mill owners are planning to make fraudulent insurance claims. It’s Evie’s steady faith that helps Max navigate the challenges as love blooms between them.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
