The Description

Publication Date: September 18, 2026

The holidays will be murder…

The table is set for a feast – wine glasses, fancy tableware, candles. Like every year, we have gathered at our father’s home on Liars Island for the holidays. It’s the only time we’re ever together as a family. As we eat and raise our glasses, we avoid each other’s eyes…

But this year someone new has been invited. Someone we haven’t seen for years. Someone who keeps asking questions about that terrible Christmas six years ago, when our mother died.

Does our Christmas guest know more than he’s saying? Why is he here, and will we be able to keep our secrets safe?

But as the storm rises, cutting us off from the mainland, we’re forced to ask what we should really be frightened of. The stranger in our home? Or each other…?

A brilliantly twisty thriller from the bestselling author of The Dinner Guest. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Maria Frankland and A.K. Benedict.

The Review

For all intents and purposes, Marguerite Wentworth died trapped in the attic of the family home.

Six years later, her adult children face scrutiny from a man with a penchant for solving murders, albeit reluctantly. Author B P Walter serves up an intriguing mystery in The Christmas Guest.

Triplets Archie, Nicole and Cliff all have reasons for wanting their mother dead, and their powerful father wants answers. It’s not until the annual holiday trek to Liar’s Island that newcomer Noah Myers begins unraveling complex motives.

With a suspenseful dual timeline detailing the conflict-ridden moments leading up to her death, Noah is trapped on an island during a major storm with a possible killer.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
