The Description

Matriarchs: Book 2
Publication Date: October 27, 2026

When Rebekah is offered a marriage to Isaac–heir to wealthy and well-respected Abraham–she leaves behind the only world she has known and ventures into the sunbaked lands of Canaan. In her new household, Rebekah learns of the mysterious Adonai, whose favor has showered Abraham’s family with abundance. To ensure her future children have a different childhood from hers, she makes a promise to God: If blessed with children, she will love all of them equally.

Twenty years later, her prayer is answered with twins who could not be more different. Gentle and thoughtful Jacob captures her heart, while wild Esau seems determined to defy her at every turn. As her sons grow into men, Rebekah finds herself torn between her promise and undeniable truths. Can she keep her love impartial even as she places her faith in God’s covenant?

New York Times bestselling author Angela Hunt brings the world of the Old Testament matriarchs to life in this biblical fiction story of motherhood, love, and God’s everlasting faithfulness. A perfect read for fans of Francine Rivers, Mesu Andrews, Heather Kaufman, Tessa Afshar, Connilyn Cossette, and Jill Eileen Smith.

The Review

A woman willing to leave everything familiar behind for a chance at a new future.

Author Angela Hunt once again delves into Old Testament times with the second installment in The Matriarchs series. Unwavering Heart tells the story of Rebekah in a first-person perspective.

The story begins as Rebekah faces the reality that she must marry. Her character resents the favor bestowed by her parents on her older brother, which offers a bit of irony for those of us familiar with her as a mother.

Her life with Isaac proves to be a whirlwind of challenges as they navigate difficult family relationships. Rebekah also embraces Adonai, the God of Abraham. That faith is put to the test many times as she deals with her sons.

The author leverages the Bible as a primary source, while also incorporating information from the ancient book of Jasher and the Book of Jubilees. Weave in the author’s creativity for a fascinating look into the lives of Rebekah, Isaac, Jacob, and Esau.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
