About The Book

Missing in Alaska: Book 1
Publication Date: February 7, 2023

Police Chief Autumn Long is fighting to keep her job in the quiet Alaska town of Shadow Gap when an unexpected string of criminal activity leaves her with a wounded officer, unexplained murders, and even an attack on her own father. Despite her mistrust of outsiders, she turns to Grier Brenner, a newcomer who seems to have the skills and training Autumn needs to face this threat to her community.

Grier is in Alaska for the same reason so many others are–to disappear–when Chief Long enlists his help. He emerges from the shadows and proves his mettle, but his presence in her life could be a deadly trap for them both. If his secret is exposed, all will be lost. And he’s not sure even Autumn could save him.

As the stakes rise and the dangers increase, Autumn and Grier must rely on each other to extinguish the deadly threats.

The Review

The Alaskan snowscape provides a perfect hiding place for people with secrets. Chief Autumn Long has secrets of her own, but she’s determined to protect her community.

Author Elizabeth Goddard delivers a fast-paced thriller in Cold Light of Day. Chief Long, struggling to maintain her position, launches an investigation after a dead body is pulled from the site of a sunken ship.

Chief Long isn’t used to needing a hero, but the mysterious Grier Brenner always seems to come to her aid at the right moment. There are definite sparks between the two characters, but mixing pleasure with work isn’t high on the Chief’s list, especially with people waiting for her to make a mistake.

Between international fugitives and bodies popping up all across Shadow Gap, it is a race against time to figure out what is happening. The author delivers a solid storyline infused with Christian values.

Cold Light of Day serves up an interesting cast of characters working together to keep their community safe.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
