The storyline includes three different time periods, starting with a prologue occurring sometime between the past and present, followed by the events pertaining to the Thompson family, and then 50 years later, focusing on the Atkinson family.

For the most part, the story is written to appeal to a teen audience interested in ghost stories. Adult readers would likely desire more plot development.

The writing style almost comes across as too formulaic initially, particularly in the prologue. As a result, the scenes don’t flow as smoothly. However, a younger reader may not notice this aspect.
