The Review

French Chocolate Cat-eau by Rosie Reed is the eleventh book in the English Village Witch Cozy, and the books haven’t lost their magic. This cozy paranormal mystery is filled with Beings of Magic, characters we’ve met before, but it has a new backdrop with this book set in Paris instead of England.

Evie and her love interest, Alex, a Deputy Inspector, are off on a romantic adventure to Paris. His police dog, Max, tags along with them, and the three are front and center throughout. Of course, they stumble upon a murder on their first night in Paris, and Evie has to get involved in solving the crime. We meet new characters as well as others woven through the previous storylines.

The story has a nice flow, with a few twists and turns and several surprises along the way. Multiple stories are being told as Evie is involved in all things French—food, language, and the shops. Evie is fully engaged in solving the murder and a few other mysteries. She’s nothing if not hard-nosed. There is closure but a few loose ends. I always love the playful titles and vivid colors of the cover; this one is spot on.

About The Author

I love writing, daydreaming, and creating stories. I often write for fun, even when I’m not planning on publishing. But it’s also wonderful to share my stories with you!

I’m a massive Agatha Christie and Terry Pratchett fan, so writing paranormal mystery comes instinctively! I love the understated gentle charm of cozies, and it’s always such a pleasure to spend time in the company of the wonderful sleuths and magical characters that my fellow authors create.

Writing the English Village Witch Cozy series helped to keep me sane during the very strange year of 2020. Evelyn and Alex have done a tremendous job of protecting my mental health, and it’s my pleasure to share this comfort with you.

I do hope you’ll enjoy escaping into the beautiful surroundings of Maiden-Upon-Avon, and having some fun with Evelyn and all the other magical beings who live there! So treat yourself now by taking the phone off the hook of life, and soaking in the bathtub of the English countryside for a while!
