The Review

The World’s Worst Superheroes by David Walliams is a hefty graphic novel filled with quirky illustrations, highlighted vocabulary to emphasize the zany, and a storyline designed for those kids who live for humor.

Walliams is a master of imaginative, off-the-wall stories. This book is composed of ten short stories, each featuring a superhero with an intended bizarre talent. If you need a hint, one character is covered in snot, and another is a famous farter! I got a chuckle at the characters that gave a seeming nod to Queen Elizabeth and Donald Trump. The villains that wreak havoc across the book all seem to be created by kids hyped up on a lot of sugar. I could imagine a group of elementary kids trying to top each other, offering ideas for villains: “A woman covered in gravy!” “Oh, how about a phantom that farts?” Young readers will not have come across the likes of these heroes or villains in any other book unless Walliams wrote it.

David Walliams adds to his collection of “The World’s Worst” with this one being The World’s Worst Superheroes. This might be a source for the fastest reading of 300 pages for any kid looking for belly laughs caused by zaniness. Buy Links
