The Description

Detective Vincent Swann: Book 2
Publication Date: October 16, 2026

He came home to escape his demons, but will his next case be the one that breaks him?

Smoke catches in Detective Vincent Swann’s throat as he examines the body bound to a chair under the scorched railway arches. Local mechanic Rob Mitchell was in witness protection. He should have been miles away from this dark corner of town, so what brought him back, and who knew he was coming?

Manchester born and bred, Vincent is no stranger to the dangers of this city, but he needs to keep his head down and play by the rules, especially after being promoted ahead of his new partner. But as more bodies surface, Vincent feels like he’s chasing a ghost back into the secret past he spent a decade trying to escape.

What will it cost Vincent to catch a murderer who just came back from the dead? And when they call Vincent out by name, will he survive long enough to stop them killing again…

Fans of Angela Marsons, Helen Fields and D. S. Butler will be gripped from the very first page of this thriller from bestselling author Helen H. Durrant.

The Review

Detective Vincent Swann returns for a new adventure, but this time it’s personal.

Author Helen H. Durrant creates a fast-paced investigative thriller in Kill Me Again. This time around, Vincent manages to land a coveted promotion before catching a brutal murder case.

As the body count rises, Vincent discovers the killer has ties to a past he prefers to keep hidden. Full of twists and turns, the book highlights the shadowy side of Manchester.

Although it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. However, I predict this will become a prolific series. Go ahead and pick up the first installment to appreciate the character development.

About The Author

Helen is married with two daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She lives in the North West of England amid the beautiful, rugged scenery of the Pennine foothills. When Helen was close to retirement, she made the decision to give writing a go. At first, she tried romance but couldn’t get off the starting block, so crime it was. For her first novel, she spent weeks deciding on the main character’s name and once she had it, she was off and running, writing the first novel, then a sequel then a third in quick succession. From the off Helen loved writing, making up stories and getting to know the characters who spring from her imagination. She feels like she actually knows these people, what makes then tick and what drives them. Helen is many years retired and although her family tell her to put her feet up, she can’t give up writing. Ever since that first book it’s become an obsession.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
