Will Dylan steal her heart as she helps him learn how to release his anxiety? Will Brisa learn to trust him and let go of her deeply engrained fears from her past relationship?
I picked up Falling for a Shy Cowboy right after finishing Falling for a Real Cowboy, both by author Karen Baney. I was enjoying the Vargas Ranch and was curious about how the next story would go. Would it follow the same formula or shake things up a little? I couldn’t wait to find out.
Falling for a Shy Cowboy follows Dylan and Brisa. These two have known each other for years, as Brisa’s brother is Dylan’s best friend. Dylan has had a crush on her since they were in high school, but she always thought he was aloof, not realizing that it was due to his speech impediment.
Years have passed, and now she’s back in town to reconnect with her family. She gets a job at the ranch, and so the romance begins.
I really like that both Brisa and Dylan were flawed. It made the story all the more real and relatable. I found the whole online dating aspect helps normalize how so many people date these days, but isn’t often used in romance novels. And then to add in a disabled child and to really lean into all that comes with a disability and how it impacts relationships.
The story could have used a little more tension or conflict to round it out a bit. But I enjoyed the characters and their situation and was rooting for them towards their happily ever after.
Falling for a Shy Cowboy is a quick, easy, inspirational romance. Ms. Baney’s writing style is easy to read and draws me in, and I can’t wait to continue this series.
