The Description

Timeless Series: Book 5
Publication Date: May 20, 2025

Gifted with the ability to time-cross between Victorian-era London and World War II Washington, DC, Kathryn faces two lives fraught with danger. In 1938 amid the looming shadow of war, Kathryn is invited to the London Museum as a guest curator to create a groundbreaking exhibit on Jack the Ripper and his reign of terror. As she delves into her grim research, she uncovers a chilling truth: Her own sister is destined to become the Ripper’s final victim decades earlier.

In 1888, in a race against fate, Kathryn is assisted by her handsome childhood friend in hunting down history’s most elusive killer. As they unravel the threads of mystery woven through time, Kathryn must decide if she’ll unmask the murderer history has chosen to hide, forfeiting a life with the man she loves to save her sister.

“A fresh and innovative twist on time travel. Each book of the Timeless series features clever heroines, emotionally charged love stories, and unpredictable twists that will keep readers engrossed until the last page.”—ELIZABETH CAMDEN, RITA award-winning author

“Meyer’s expertly written blend of historical and time-travel fiction . . . features compelling dual timelines and passionate narrators navigating complex challenges.”—Booklist starred review of For a Lifetime

Fans of Outlander and Downton Abbey will be captivated by this clean historical romance of time travel, a murder mystery, and the friends-to-lovers trope set during the Victorian-era and World War II.

The Review

Kathryn straddles two different time periods, alternating every time she wakes up. In three years, at age 25, she must decide which path to choose.

Author Gabrielle Meyer adds an extra twist by giving Kathryn the choice to stick with 1888 and possibly save her sister from a dreadful fate while giving up her true love in 1938. Every Hour until Then marks the fifth installment in the Timeless series.

The link between the two time periods is the infamous Jack the Ripper. The author draws upon history to weave an inspirational historical romance with a suspenseful twist.

Tying the two time periods together, with only 50 years in between for Kathryn, is more challenging than the centuries that separate her mother’s two paths. The author does an excellent job highlighting the difficult decisions facing Kathryn and her determination to save her sister.

The ending is especially poignant and properly wraps up the timelines. From a series standpoint, this installment successfully continues the time-crosser theme.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
