“This hair-raising roller-coaster thrill ride may leave readers questioning their own personal narratives. Secrets and lies collide in this sinisterly effective thriller.” –Kirkus Reviews

When renowned professor Dr. Aidan Ryan vanishes without explanation, he leaves behind a haunting message revealing he has a new life and can never return. His devastated daughter Sofia embarks on a global search to uncover the truth behind her father’s disappearance. What she finds is more shocking than she could have imagined—a web of family secrets and lies that challenges everything she thought she knew.

After clues lead her to Italy, Sofia reconnects with her estranged mother, Ella, who reveals a hidden past of trauma and deceit. When they discover Aidan’s ties to The Brotherhood, an elusive, powerful society that operates in the shadows of world affairs, Sofia and Ella become ensnared in a deadly conspiracy. Trapped in ancient catacombs beneath the Roman countryside, they must confront their mysterious captors and fight for their lives. But as they edge closer to escape, one question remains: Will Aidan choose his family or The Brotherhood? The Review

The sudden disappearance of her father leads a young woman searching for answers.

Chasing Shadows by A.C. Adams is inspired by the author’s search to uncover her own father’s secrets. Told through different perspectives, the story features an international search that leads to a shocking conclusion.

Aidan Ryan runs his life with iron control, including his relationship with his daughter, Sofia, and his past. His controlling nature appears to be softening as he presents her with a beach house as a graduation gift. However, Sofia has no desire to move out of their shared ranch home.

Sofia’s character evolves during the story, but she seems rather awkward and anxious in the beginning. With virtually no relationship with her mother, Sofia must reconnect with Ella when Aidan disappears.

As they put together the pieces of Aidan’s life, they stumble upon dangerous secrets tied to a religious order that threaten their safety.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
