The Description

Love in Destiny
Publication Date: August 26, 2025

That summer, their eighteen-year-old hearts soared with the thrill of first love—a feeling they believed would last forever—and nothing could come between them. However, their treasured bond began to unravel amid whispers of betrayal, leaving both of them heartbroken.

Eighteen years later, Kane Beckett returned to Destiny, taking on the role of sheriff and questioning whether his “destiny” has been preordained all along. Expecting a trouble-free life in a quiet seaside town in Florida, he finds himself unprepared for the surge of vandalism and the threatening dangers that haunt the community, along with vengeful threats against his life.

Making things more complicated is his unavoidable reunion with the woman he has always loved. Is he willing to risk his heart for a fresh start, or is he doomed to face heartbreak again?

Harper Keegan is happy and content raising her teenage son and managing Sand, Shells, and Second Chances, her gift and antique shop. Her world is thrown into chaos when the man who broke her heart returns to Destiny.

The town plans to host an event over Labor Day weekend, and she is compelled to co-chair it with Kane. Coinciding with their festival, she’s organizing an auction of rare, expensive shells aboard the Vanderbilt Queen. Unaware to her, she gets caught up in an ongoing police investigation into diamond smuggling.

Together, they must move beyond their teenage heartbreak and believe that the love they shared has endured through time and distance, helping them rediscover the deep love they once cherished.

The Review

A second-chance romance comes to life after almost two decades, with a twist of suspense.

Author Judy Kentrus delivers Shells, Sand, and Second Chances, which is part of a multi-author five-series set in the same beach town.

As teens, Kane and Harper seemed like a sure thing, but circumstances drove them apart. Eighteen years later, Harper is still in their hometown as Kane returns as sheriff.

Both characters are likable and demonstrate chemistry, even after so many years have passed. When they have to collaborate on plans for an upcoming shell collector convention and auction, Harper unknowingly gets in the middle of an investigation.

Packed with cool information about shell collecting, this is a small town mystery brimming with secondary characters.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
