The Description

Publication Date: July 30, 2025

Seven years ago, award-winning journalist Jake Hansen released an unsanctioned drug cartel story on the Internet, destroying his career, marriage and life.

Now, he finds himself drowning in booze, women and gambling. He runs a dive bar with his best friends, Pete Mills, a retired NYPD detective, and Lamar Wagner, an ex-con. They also take on the occasional private eye case.

When a big shot from the Casinos Commission hires Jake and his pals to find his missing daughter, a simple job quickly gets complicated, leading them into the depths of the underworld Jake once investigated. Jake and his team have one goal—find the girl and bring her to safety.

The stakes keep climbing, but Jake’s determined to win this time and reclaim some of the life he lost.

The Review

Jake Hansen’s life takes a dangerous turn while investigating a missing woman.

Author Kevin R. Andrade delivers an action-packed adventure in Ten to the 405. Stuck in a downward spiral, Jake can’t refuse to take a case along with his two partners.

As a morally gray character, Jake is a study of contrasts. His background as an investigative journalist reflects a man who knows how to find information. While a poor choice in the past cost him everything, using his private investigation skills offers a chance at redemption.

However, he and his partners aren’t the only ones on the woman’s trail. Pete, Lamar, and Jake provide plenty of entertainment with their antics, but they are good at what they do.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
