The Description

Silver Springs Mysteries: Book 2
Publication Date: September 27, 2025

In the second page-turning novel in the Silver Springs Mysteries, within Fall’s beauty lurks deadly deception…

Laura Evans thought managing the General Store café in Silver Springs, Vermont would be a peaceful change from her high-pressure Boston restaurant career. But when apple farmer Vernon Reed is found dead, suspicion falls on Laura’s friend Izzy-the enthusiastic theater enthusiast whose fingerprints are all over the murder weapon.

As damning evidence mounts and the town turns against Izzy, Laura refuses to believe the kind-hearted young man could be a killer. Teaming up with her wise neighbor Evelyn and fellow café worker Jasmine, she digs into Vernon’s secretive final months.

But the murderer is watching Laura’s investigation-and they’ll do anything to keep their lies from unraveling. In a community where everyone knows everyone, the deadliest secrets hide behind the most trusted faces.

This engaging book serves up the perfect blend of mystery and comfort. Every clue unfolds at just the right place, and justice is as satisfying as a refreshing glass of sweet cider.

The Review

Laura Evans is finding her groove in the delightful Vermont town of Silver Springs, but when an apple farmer is found dead, she uses her sleuthing skills in Jodie Morgan’s Murder at Goldenleaf Apple Farm.

Small town cozy mysteries are comforting to me. People know each other, and neighbors help each other. I love the sense of community that the characters demonstrate throughout the story.

The main protagonist, Laura, is very likable. Most women can identify with her. She’s new in town, getting to know her neighbors, and wants to do the right thing. Laura has a mom who worries about her and wants her to be successful, but only by her mom’s standards, not her own.

Much of the story takes place in a cafe with great food and coffee, which is a wonderful setting. I like that the author combines murder, mystery, great writing, and food into a really good story.

I’ve reviewed before for the now closed Romancing the Book. I love reading whether it’s an ebook or a good old-fashioned book book. The smell of a book is such a nice smell. I work with handicapped adults in my real life and I live in New York State.
