4-STAR REVIEW: TRISTAN 4 AMERICA by Bruce Overby

The Description

Publication Date: October 6, 2026

One man. Zero chance of winning. Nothing left to lose.

After the pandemic costs him his career-and his sense of purpose-Tristan Heller makes an unthinkable decision: he runs for president of the United States. Not to win, but to say what no one else will.

Backed by a scrappy crew of Silicon Valley outsiders, Tristan’s long-shot campaign cuts through the noise of the 2024 election with blunt, incendiary truth. What begins as a protest quickly gains traction-drawing in voters hungry for honesty…and attention from far more dangerous forces.

As his message spreads, so does the backlash.

Online fury spills into the real world. Money, misinformation, and power close ranks. And Tristan finds himself in a fight he never intended to start-against a system that doesn’t reward disruption, and the people who will do anything to silence it.

In a nation defined by division, speaking the truth can make you a target.

A sharp, provocative literary novel with the pulse of a political thriller, Tristan 4 America explores the fault lines of modern democracy-from campaign finance and disinformation to identity, power, and the high cost of dissent.

The Review

When his job is eliminated in the aftermath of the pandemic, a man channels his talent via an unlikely source.

Author Bruce Overby introduces readers to Tristan Heller in Tristan 4 America. He launches a presidential campaign he can’t possibly win, but it gives him an outlet to deliver his own narrative.

With somewhat veiled references to “The Navel,” Tristan stumps for the Democrats by laying his plans on the line to “crush the modern Republican Party.”

His charismatic sales background makes for perfect sound bites, garnering all sorts of attention. In an emotionally charged political climate, that openness comes with a price.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
