The Description

Publication Date: October 7, 2026

My husband’s new girlfriend is perfect. And so is the game she’s playing…

When my ex-husband moves in with his new girlfriend Sadie – all smiles, smooth skin and flawless hair – in the house across the street, I try to swallow my pride. It’s good for our daughter Grace to have him living so close.

Then Grace comes to me in tears. She saw Sadie attacking our sweet, elderly neighbour. And she’s terrified nobody will believe her.

I knew Sadie was a homewrecker. I never suspected she was a killer…

I didn’t tell anyone that Sadie arrived in town with secrets to hide. I gritted my teeth when she stole my husband. But now my daughter is in danger.

So I slip into their house. I tiptoe through the pristine rooms, knowing Sadie would spot a speck of dust out of place.

But even I couldn’t have imagined what Sadie’s been hiding, carefully locked away in the attic. Her perfect life is about to become a perfect nightmare… and ours along with it.

A page-turning, jaw-dropping psychological thriller that will have you reading under the covers all night. Perfect for fans of The Housemaid, The Couple Next Door and The Family Upstairs.

The Review

When Laura’s husband leaves her for the younger woman across the street, the betrayal becomes overwhelming.

However, when her teen daughter shares a horrible secret about the woman, Laura is determined to get answers. Author Lauren North builds a psychological thriller with His New Girlfriend.

All the ingredients are in place for plenty of emotional angst. There’s the former best friend now occupying the narrator’s spot, the embarrassment of having to work and serve former members of her social group, and most importantly, a mother’s determination to protect her daughter.

However, proving that young Grace’s allegations against Sadie requires careful tact. Finding out the truth comes with an enormous dilemma. Grace delivers a solid role as the one caught in the middle.

Amy Wilson
My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
