In Wyler’s 7th installment of the Deadly Odds techno-thriller series, reformed hacker Arnold Gold and his team are contracted to come up with a daring plan to sneak past the building’s newly installed AI-enhanced security systems to hack the computers and offices a high-profile Seattle law firm in an ultra-secure downtown office building while squaring off against the clock and a hard-driving, paranoid Head of Security, Itzhak Mizrahi.

The Review

In the realm of techno-thrillers, computer genius Arnold Gold can always be counted on for an adventure.

With Deadly Odds 7.0, author Allen Wyler serves up the seventh installment featuring Gold and the Tiger Team as technology security consultants. The books in the Deadly Odds series can be enjoyed as standalones, but to appreciate the significance of the new book, I’d recommend reading Deadly Odds 6.0.

When we last left Arnold, he was celebrating a successful project in which he and his team launched a breach of a high-powered law firm’s security and technological systems. This test revealed serious weaknesses for the client.

Now, the law firm wants to see if its improvements are strong enough to withstand another test. However, this time, the law firm’s head of security is determined to withstand any attacks.

With his typical quirky style, the author breathes life into the characters as they battle it out with AI-enhanced technology. When the dust settles, what will Arnold’s skills reveal?

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
