Hunter Reed is a fun guy. He’s easy-going and laid back. He’s the kind of guy who likes to make people smile and he’ll do almost anything to get a reaction. It doesn’t bother him to be the center of attention, which serves him well both as a band member and as a teacher. From the beginning of the marching band season, he chooses Sydney Peters to tease. She always seems grumpy, so he tries to make her smile by playing a song on his saxophone just for her. Week after week, she walks by not acknowledging him at all. Until he plays “Let It Go.” Then she crashes her cymbals together at the chorus and throws a flirty smirk his way.
Hunter loves music and playing in the marching band. He has a rock band that plays on the weekends and he plays occasionally at a jazz club. He successfully plays many different instruments, except the drums. Playing drums has never been an interest to him, but he thinks he should know the basics because if he teaches band, he’ll have students who will want to be drummers.
When he hears Sydney playing drums alone in a practice room, he decides to enlist her help in learning how to play. The chemistry they share is enticing and Hunter has to convince Sydney there’s more to him than his player reputation. He’s dated around plenty, but as he says, “nothing stuck.” Relationships don’t scare him. He’s a solid, stable guy who wants to be with her.
Hunter was a lot of fun to write simply because he’s a lot of fun. In general, he doesn’t get stressed out. His easy-going ways makes him loveable. What you see is what you get. The only games he plays are those of the flirty sort.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Sydney Peters can’t wait to finally drop the cymbals in marching band and devote time to her true love: drums. With the semester coming to a close, she’s blocking out the cacophony during practice, especially sax serenades from Hunter Reed. But when Hunter offers her a paid gig as a drummer in his band, Sydney quickly changes her tune. The two favor different styles, but they make beautiful music together…in more ways than one.
Hunter is fascinated by Sydney’s distant allure. He might be a ladies’ man on campus, but the sarcastic cymbalist is impervious to his advances. When Hunter sees how passionate Sydney is behind the drums, he orchestrates a plan to find out if she kisses like she plays. What he doesn’t anticipate, however, is falling so hard. But will the repercussions of his past crash down on his chance at something real?
