4.5-STAR REVIEW: RECOVERY ROAD by Christine Feehan

The Description

Torpedo Ink: Book 8
Publication Date: January 24, 2023

Kir “Master” Vasiliev doesn’t care whether he lives or dies. He’s a burnt-out shell with no one and nothing but his club. Whatever Torpedo Ink needs, Master will put himself in harm’s way time after time. If he doesn’t make it back, he’s certain everyone will move on just fine.

Investment banker Ambrielle Moore knows her own mind, and she’s not willing to settle for anyone. So when a second-rate gangster and his thugs try to coerce her into marriage—and giving up all of her family’s money—she’s having none of it. Until they turn to cold-blooded murder.

Grieving and enraged, Ambrie is ready to go scorched earth on her captors when Master shows up anticipating a damsel in distress. But Ambrie is nothing like he expected, and everything he never knew he desired….

The Review

For Kir “Master” Vasiliev, Torpedo Ink is his family. When he is tasked with marrying a woman to keep her safe, he doesn’t blink an eye. The only caveat is once he sets sights on Ambrielle, it’s a forever deal.

As the eighth book in the series, author Christine Feehan brings another member of the motorcycle club to life in Recovery Road.

My recommendation is to read the books in sequence since they are interconnected. There is a helpful cast of characters at the beginning of each story to assist with the Russian names. The charter members of the MC share a painful past of being trained as assassins.

So far, Master’s story stands out because his past was filled with the worst kinds of abuse. As a result, he has trouble trusting and forming relationships. When he discovers that Ambrielle is no shrinking violet, it opens the doors to a future he had never imagined.

There’s plenty of drama as Torpedo Ink takes on thugs trying to hurt Ambrielle. However, the storyline also brings back more of the traditional romance from Feehan’s earlier books.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
