Superbly written and beautifully told, Garden of the Midnights is a story rich in love. Love beyond measure, beyond sacrifice and danger, and possibly even . . . beyond reason.

5-STAR REVIEW: GARDEN OF THE MIDNIGHTS by Hannah Linder

The Description

Publication Date: October 1, 2023

The accidents are not a matter of chance. They are deliberate. As English gentleman William Kensley becomes aware of the danger at Rosenleigh Manor, he pleads for the truth of his past from the only man he can trust—until that man is murdered.

As the secrets unfold into scandal, William’s world is tipped into destitution, leaving him penniless and alone. His only comfort is in the constant friendship and love of Isabella Gresham. If he does not have their nonsense at the seashore, their laughter, their reckless adventures, has he anything at all?

He should have known that would be ripped from him too. When a hidden foe arises from their acquaintances and imperils Isabella’s life, William may be the only one willing to risk his life to rescue her. But even if he frees Isabella from her captors, will he still have to forsake her heart?

Some sacrifice everything for love. Others sacrifice love for everything else. In this haunting tale of rigid social prejudices and heart-aching regrets, the greatest decision of their life will be determined in the garden of the midnights.

The Review

Falling headlong into a book is an amazing feeling. If you’ve never read one of Hannah Linder’s spellbinders, you’re missing out on a wonderful experience. Her latest novel, Garden of the Midnights, grabs you from the start and holds on tight, never letting go until the very end when the reader must reluctantly let go.

William Kensley loves Rosenleigh Manor even though growing up there has been painful and challenging. The situation is only becoming more difficult when it becomes obvious someone is trying to kill him. But why? Could it be because he’s recently inherited Rosenleigh, or could there be other reasons?

When William’s close confidant is killed in Rosenleigh’s garden at midnight, he begs a promise from William to leave Rosenleigh.

William reluctantly leaves and heads to London to seek out Edward Gresham, who William has been told can explain the murderous attacks. Upon his arrival, William doesn’t immediately meet Gresham, but he does meet his daughter, Isabella. The two form a friendship but are soon forced apart when Isabella’s father returns and is made aware of William’s presence.

Even across the English countryside, their paths are destined to cross again. After another attempt on William’s life, their relationship begins to blossom into something even dearer than either had ever expected.

Through plot twists and turns, upheavals, and danger, the chance of William and Isabella being together is thwarted time and again until both despair of finding happiness. Heartrending as well as heart-pounding, Hannah Linder’s Garden of Midnights sweeps you along with its endearing characters, surprising plot twists and turns, and upheavals and danger that keep you on the edge of your seat. You ache for the characters’ frustrations, always hoping that somehow, someway, they will find happiness and find it together. The journey to that discovery is memorably worth taking.
