The Description

Publication Date: July 2, 2024

1987. Supermodel Harlow Hayes seeks solace in a quaint Florida beach town to heal from a heartbreak that shattered her entire world. To her surprise, she encounters Matt Knight—a Hollywood A-lister with a bad-boy reputation—who has returned to his hometown to help his plucky grandmother, Tuesday, save her century-old skating rink, the Starlight.

The Starlight holds a special place in the hearts of the community, once acting as a refuge for Depression-era families and bringing the town together with gatherings and celebrations. Tuesday’s determination even protected her beloved rink from her husband’s shady business dealings. Yet when the Starlight is threatened with demolition, Tuesday begins to wonder if an era has come to an end.

As Matt and Harlow strategize to save the rink, they find themselves on a journey of surprises, self-discovery, and the kind of healing that leads to love.

The Review

Former model and “It” girl Harlow Hayes has wallowed in self-pity for two years after being dumped by the love of her life.

Author Rachel Hauck delivers two strong female characters in two different timelines that eventually connect in Meet Me at the Starlight.

Tuesday Knight adores the local skating rink in Sea Blue Beach. Although times are tough in 1932, her husband manages to get the deed of the rink for Tuesday.

Fast-forward to 1987, and Harlow receives the deed to a coastal cottage during an intervention. She agrees to spend the next several months putting herself back together, which means a visit to Sea Blue Beach.

While there, Harlow encounters Tuesday’s grandson, Matt, who also deals with the remnants of a once-flourishing acting career. Both have healing to do, highlighted with opportunities for forgiveness.

Central to the story is the beloved skating rink marked for demolition. It will take a team effort to save it and protect Tuesday’s dream.

My name is Amy W., and I am a book addict. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. As she was gearing up for the "you shouldn't be reading this" lecture, I told her the characters get married in the end. I'm just glad she didn't find the Bertrice Small book hidden in my closet. I have diverse reading tastes, evident by the wide array of genres on my Kindle. As I made the transition to an e-reader, I found myself worrying that something could happen to it. As a result, I am now the proud owner of four Kindles -- all different kinds, but plenty of back-ups! "Fifty Shades of Grey" gets high marks on my favorites list -- not for character development or dialogue (definitely not!), but because it blazed new ground for those of us who believe provocative fiction is more than just an explicit cover. Sylvia Day, Lexie Blake, and Kristin Hannah are some of my favorite authors. Speaking of diverse tastes, I also enjoy Dean Koontz, Iris Johansen, and J.A. Konrath. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. Give me something with a well-defined storyline, add some suspense (or spice), and I am a happy reader. Give me a happily ever after, and I am downright giddy.
