Janae and Adam are the leads in this second-chance romance, and it was fun to get to know them. The two had crushes on each other twenty years ago when they were in high school. Neither of them knew the other’s feelings, but when Adam returns to their small town and their paths cross, all bets are off. Watching them take two steps forward and many more back was sometimes heartbreaking.
There was a depth to each of them, and their pasts definitely play a role in how their future will turn out and if a relationship between them can develop. Janae is raising her teenage son, who was essential to the story. I loved how Janae was portrayed and how Adam respected her.
The epilogue offers closure and a hint of a happily-ever-after. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I also found the first book of the series in my library, and I look forward to reading it.
Janae Sanders’ Second Time Around is filled with friendships and family strife while being true to oneself and knowing when to let others in.
