A small town…a prominent family…a secret. Only two people know the truth, and their silence will have murderous consequences.
Anna Goddard has spent a lifetime being the Good Daughter. Polished and primped into sleek, blond perfection, Anna learned from an early age that being a Goddard meant presenting a flawless façade to the world. But all that changes when Anna stumbles upon a private correspondence that leaves her reeling. With the help of Michael Donovan, a shy but charming local historian, Anna embarks on a journey to find the one thing her family has always denied: The Truth.
Propelled by her mission to protect those she loves, the young woman experiences a tantalizing taste of freedom. But in the process of unearthing the past, Anna and her family will expose a new threat so dangerous it could ruin them all.

Nice to meet you!
Sounds like a good book.
Thanks Rita. Hope you enjoy it!
I like the ominous cover. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m a sucker for ominous everything myself! And I’m in love with this cover. Someone very talented listened to my rant about the kind of cover I wanted (something about dark secrets, and ominous very ominous, of course) and created this beautiful cover. Thanks for checking out my book!
An intriguing title and synopsis, this sounds like an excellent read. Than you for sharing your book and author details
Thanks Bea! Hope you read it and like it. I loved writing it. And the title, oh I must have wrecked my brain for weeks coming up with that title; and when I did, I knew it was the one!
Great excerpt and giveaway.
Sounds like a very good book.
Anna sounds like an interesting character. I would love to read her story.
The book sounds amazing. I love the cover, and can’t wait to read it.
I really like the cover. How did you come up with the idea for this story?
Hi Kim! Thanks for your question. This story, to a great extent, is about a personal boogeyman of mine. Victor Goddard, Anna’s father, represents both the beast that I dread my daughter could meet one day, and the darkness that might lurk inside any of us, waiting for the right moment to show its ugly face.
Hi All! If you like what you see and would like to read the entire first chapter, follow this link to Reedsy Discovery. And if you feel like upvoting my book, I would greatly appreciate it.
