#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan has had a successful career starting with her first novel DARK PRINCE in 1999. With dozens of books published and several series, her Carpathian series continues to make the top ten of the New York Times list and is a favorite with readers.
Time Magazine credited Feehan along with Bram Stoker, Joss Whedon and Anne Rice for popularizing the vampire novel and with her newest release DARK LYCAN out there seems to be no end to the popularity of the series.
Currently, Feehan has a trilogy within the series and the long-awaited story of favored characters Skyler and Dimitri will finally be told in the next installment of the trilogy entitled DARK WOLF which releases in January 2014 and the final book of the trilogy, DARK WOLF releasing in September of 2014. The series itself in slated to continue, but the trilogy introduces more of the mythology.
To celebrate her ongoing success and as a heart-felt “thank you” to her fans who are loyal to the series Feehan personally financed the production of a web video series called Before the Dark, which is a prequel to the series’ first novel DARK PRINCE. There isn’t a book for this story, but much of the mythology and some back story is peppered throughout her series in various books. The webisodes are 12 episodes long and will release once a month in preparation of the release of the trilogy books.
“This gives the fans something to talk about and look forward to while they wait for the release of the next two books in the series,” shares Sheila Clover English of Circle of Seven Productions who co-wrote the script and directed the series. “The fans are loving it! There’s so much excitement about getting to know the original Carpathians that the announcement of the “secret gift” alone was shared over 3500 on Christine’s Facebook profile within 24 hours of it being posted.” Within the first day of the initial episode going live it was watched over 7000 times, so fans are definitely interested in the series.
The overall premise of the story has to do with visions shared by the Carpathian Prince Vladimir Dubrinsky played by actor John Wells, and a Lycan seer named Catalina played by actor Sara Bakay. Visions of the future show them a war between their races. They look to meet and compare their visions in the hope that they can somehow stop the war before it begins. But, someone doesn’t want them to meet and Vladimir has more to worry about than just visions. The story will help fill in some blanks not yet revealed in the books and the visions tie in to the books in the trilogy in a way that once the reader has read the book they can re-watch the videos for hidden hints and extras they missed before certain information was revealed.
“You don’t have to watch the video to get what’s in the book and you don’t have to read the book to enjoy the story told in the video. But, if you do both you get some little hidden secrets, or a deeper understanding of things shown in the video,” says English.
The fans continue to share in social media and with each other in the author’s online community found only on her website. You can see the first episode at http://www.youtube.com/
